- No posts on weekends. (I've learned from many past endeavors that I need to give myself some break time or I'll burn myself out.)
- Original posts such as reviews, program ideas, etc. every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Meme's on Tuesdays (MizB's Teaser Tuesdays) and Fridays (Alison's Follow Friday and Jennifer's Book Blogger Hop). The exception to this will be if I'm stuck on the same book two Tuesdays in a row, in which case I'll do an original post instead of a teaser. (Ideally this will make me feel less like I'm working and more like I'm able to have fun while still voicing my opinions on various issues or recommending books.)
- Writing posts and scheduling them for later dates is OK! (In fact, I already have posts scheduled through the first two weeks of September, so please do come back.)
- Keep this mindset (only apply it to blogging instead of working out):
Alright readers (if I have any of you left), now it's time for me to ask YOU for a favor : keep me accountable! Ask questions. Share your opinions. And it wouldn't hurt my confidence if you decided to follow me, either. ;)
On to the Blog Hops!
Question (8/24/2012) : What is the worst cover of a book that you've read and loved?
I loved all of Ellen Hopkins's YA books (including Fallout & Perfect - not pictured here), but, while they've basically become Ellen's "trademark" look, there's really nothing special to me about the covers. I guess publishers realized that using a model made-up to look like she was on drugs or being abused on the covers would not be warmly welcomed by parents of teens.
Question (8/24/2012) : What is your favorite thing about blogging?
I have always loved to write. Blogging gives me the ability to "write" about whatever I want, which is a nice break from having to write what I'm told to in school. Plus, it's always nice to feel like someone CARES about what I have to say.
I would appreciate a follow, IF you think my blog covering books and other ideas for Babies to Young Adults will appeal to you and/or help you in some way. I DO NOT want you to follow me just because you feel like you have to because I'm participating in the Hop, as I cannot promise the same to you. For instance, if your blogging specialty is erotic novels or adult books, I have nothing against you or your site, it's just not my cup of tea.
Have a great weekend!

It's just font and a boring background. Nothing stands out that much. Still, I would love to finally read this series! New Follower.

I'm following you back. :) I do agree that one word on a relatively plain background is boring. They are AMAZING stories on the inside, though!
DeleteI like your list on why you blog. I need to create one of my own.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Ellen Hopkins' books but I've heard many raves about them. I can see why these covers seem boring and I understand your reasoning behind them.
Btw, I think your blog is adorable! I am a new follower.

Thanks so much for the kind words! I visited you back, and I do hope you'll get a chance to read her books and let me know what you think!
DeleteI actually like the covers. But it's nice to have some pictures and graphics.
ReplyDeleteNew Follower!

Happy Friday!

I haven't read these books yet but I do have to agree that the covers are pretty boring. New GFC Follower!

I agree, nothing spectacular about these. Although it's better than having a gross person on the cover, which does happen :-)
ReplyDeleteNew follower via GFC.

lol Can you give me an example of a cover you've felt has had a "gross person" on the cover? I'm quite intrigued now. :P
DeleteOh, and following you back! ^_^
Just hopping through **New Follower via GFC**

Hi Elisabeth, Great blog! I like how you have a plan set out for blogging. That is such a great idea. I feel like I'm all over the place sometimes. I'm hoping to settle into a better rhythm once my kids are back to school in September.
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting you from Mother Daughter Book Reviews and returning the favor. I'm now following you via GFC. Have a great weekend! Cheers,
Renee @ http://motherdaughterbookreviews.com
Thank you! Hopefully I can STICK to my plan!!
DeleteYour blog is amazing. I can't figure out if it's possible to follow through GFC, though. :\ Any ideas?
No, I don't have GFC - not allowed, I guess because I'm self-hosted? I do have G+ though as an alternative. My preferences (to be followed) really are email and G+. I'm jealous of all the blogs that have GFC - it's such a great way to follow! :(
Deletenew follower through GFC as lucyatmax/no pic. I can be found/followed at: bethartfromtheheart.blogspot.com . I found your assessment of why the covers are blah, interesting. Maybe they are protecting teens from parental reactions to covers. Frankly, that would make me more suspicious...LOL...anyway, enjoy your blogging and keep reading and writing. I would love to see you make it big in the future!

Thank you so much for the encouragement! I'll have to keep your thoughts in mind if I ever see my children with a very inconspicuously covered book. ;)
DeleteI don't actually mind them. I'd rather have typographic covers than bad stock photography.
ReplyDeleteMy follow friday! Please visit!
Are you an artsy type of person? That sounds like something my husband would say, but alas, I'm more of a stock photography type of girl.
DeleteI'm following you back, and I love your banner-thing at the top of your page. :)
I love the writing part of blogging, too. It's nice to just write for fun, not because I HAVE to.
ReplyDeleteGlad to have found you via the Hop!
Thank you! Do you have a link back to your blog? :)
DeleteThank you so much, Christine. I did follow you back! :)
